Fabric & Care Guide

KUHELIKA | কুহেলিকা

A saree is not just a garment — it is a living textile. With the right care, your KUHELIKA | কুহেলিকা saree will only grow more beautiful with time.

Silk Sarees

  • Dry clean only, or hand wash gently in cold water with mild detergent.
  • Never wring or twist. Press between dry towels to absorb moisture.
  • Dry in shade — never in direct sunlight, which fades the sheen.
  • Iron on low heat with a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the saree.
  • Store folded in a soft muslin cloth, not plastic.

Jamdani Sarees

  • Hand wash only in cold water. Do not machine wash.
  • Use a gentle, colour-safe detergent.
  • Avoid soaking for extended periods to preserve the weave.
  • Dry flat in shade to maintain shape.
  • Store loosely folded with a neem leaf or cedar block to deter insects.

Cotton Sarees

  • Hand wash or gentle machine wash in cold water.
  • Wash dark colours separately the first few times.
  • Iron on medium heat while slightly damp for a crisp finish.
  • Cotton is breathable and easy to care for — ideal for daily wear.

General Storage Tips

  • Refold sarees along different lines every few months to prevent permanent creases.
  • Air sarees out occasionally, even if unworn.
  • Keep away from moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Never store in sealed plastic bags — fabric needs to breathe.

Treat your saree with love, and it will last a lifetime.
